New energy supplier Open Electric has launched itself into Northern Ireland's competitive domestic electricity market with an offer which it claims differentiates itself from its rivals. The Belfast-based company, which was established last year and has been granted an electricity supply licence by the Utility Regulator has promised both to reward loyal customers with a share in any profits and to make significant charitable donations. From August, Open Electric will provide new customers with a one-rate charge per unit and a choice of billing options. The company has been set by Northern Ireland electricity specialist and entrepreneur Marc Norris, formerly a technical analyst with SONI - the organisation responsible for overseeing the transmission network in Northern Ireland. The new company joins four other suppliers in the domestic electricity market.
